Several state leaders described Budget 2023 as comprehensive because it covers not only all the economic sectors but also the entire Malaysian Family.

The demand for palm oil is expected to stay strong in 2022, especially in the food sector, with the reopening of economic sectors and international borders.

The government has decided to not allow any economic sector or type of employment to delay the implementation of the 2022 PGM, said Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri M. Saravanan.

The Health Ministry wants to see the outcome of the conditional movement control order (CMCO) first before advising Putrajaya on reopening more economic sectors.

Its director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said they are monitoring the situation and would be able to tell in two weeks' time.

"We have given relaxation through the conditional MCO which started on May 4, and hopefully in two weeks, we will monitor the progress to see if there is an increase in the number of new cases or otherwise.

"Before more economic sectors can be reopened, especially those like hair styling services, we need to monitor the situation before advising the prime minister," he told a press conference in Putrajaya.

The government has allowed authorised companies operating in economic sectors to resume full operations starting tomorrow.

These companies will also be allowed to operate without time constraints.

However, International Trade and Industry Minister Azmin Ali said the companies must adhere to the procedures which had been set according to their respective sectors.

The Cabinet has decided to allow several additional economic sectors to operate in phases during the movement control order (MCO), which has been extended until April 28, on the condition that they adhere to strict health and safety guidelines.

International Trade and Industry Minister Azmin Ali said  that companies listed in the additional sectors will have to submit their application to MITI and must comply with procedures that have been set for their respective industries.

He also said all workers of companies allowed to operate during the MCO period must be screened for COVID-19.

The government will continue to focus on lowering the unemployment rate by providing more employment opportunities as well as efforts to revive the economic sectors affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The price of goods is expected to stabilise early next year with more countries opening their economic sectors, said Ismail Sabri.

The opening of many economic sectors under Phase Four of PPN has caused a surge in demand for essential items like chicken and cooking oil and led to price increases.

Dr Adham said such efforts would contribute to the country's biotechnology, human capital and bio-economic sectors.

The requirement for individuals to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in order to enjoy the easing of restrictions in social and economic sectors still applies to all phases of the PPN.

Ismail Sabri said the focus to boost the economy would be on restoring the growth momentum of all economic sectors.

Muhyiddin has asked the ministers concerned to review the relevant SOPs to ensure a smooth reopening of economic sectors as the country moves towards the endemic phase of COVID-19.

Dr Noor Hisham has reminded Malaysians to adhere to the strict standard operating procedures (SOPs), following the opening of more economic sectors.

With more than 50 per cent of the country's adult population fully vaccinated, more restrictions in the social and economic sectors in Phase One states and onwards under the PPN have been eased.
